Digital Image Editing for Web Applications

This file is the Powerpoint used in the Learnatics session.

Editing digital images is basically the same technique regardless of the final useage.
What is important however is the changes that are made in each step of the editing process to match the requirements of the final use.

For instance, a printed image may require more sharpening than one that is to be used on a computer or TV screen

A web based image will generally have its size considerably reduced from the source image to ensure fast internet page loading speeds
It is possible that one source image will be used in multiple ways so that an edited version is repeatedly adjusted to provide multiple versions.

This must be considered when beginning the editing process to ensure that the original is preserved for the future and that multiple edits do not degrade the image

When placing an image on a web page the size in pixels is important.
This gives an idea of the on-screen size of a larger image.
